“Looking through the lens.” Observations of a wildlife photographer with Shawn Carey

Birds and other wildlife have fascinated people for has long as recorded history. This interest over the years has led to cave paintings, illustrations, sculptures, wood carvings, photographs, videos and audio recordings. However it’s with the vast improvements in digital technology over the last ten years that people now capture photos and videos never imaged before. Join wildlife photographer Shawn Carey as he explores some of his observations over the last 25 years and shares memorable moments here in the US and abroad. We will hear the sounds of a Bobolink and Marsh Wren as they sing to attract a mate in early spring. What it’s like to stand on the North Lookout at Hawk Mountain in late October waiting for migrating raptors as move south for the winter. Or the spectacle of thousands or Snow Gesee and Sandhill Cranes at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge in New Mexico. These are just a few examples of the wonder that birds provide us throughout the year and why people continue to seek them out, observe them, study them and enjoy spending time in the natural world with birds of all kind.
