Bird Photography Master Class

Bird Photography Master Class with Shawn Carey & Mike Milicia
Location: Mass Audubon Museum of American Bird Art, Canton, MA
Saturday November 16, 2024
Shawn Carey and Michael Milicia will lead this one-day classroom seminar crammed with tips and techniques that will help bring your avian imagery to the next level.
Mike and Shawn will be prepared to discuss a wide range of topics including fieldcraft, composition, exposure, metering, autofocus, histograms, minimizing noise, camera setup, flight photography, video, tripods, lenses, long lens technique, sharpness, light angles, bird behavior, poses, head angles, hot spot locations, travel tips, and more.
Please note that any detailed discussion of camera settings and behavior will be oriented toward mirrorless camera bodies. Due to advances in mirrorless technology and its many enormous advantages over DSLRs, it has become the dominant and preferred choice for bird and wildlife photography. DSLR users will still benefit from many topics which are not camera-specific and will also come to understand the reasons why mirrorless cameras are taking over.
The exact content for the day will be guided in large part by questions and/or topic suggestions that registered attendees will be invited to submit in advance. We will do our best to make the content and presentation suitable for both beginners and more experienced bird photographers.
