Do you have thousands of digital photos and have trouble organizing them? Do you need help on how to process a digital photo for output to e-mail or web?

Join wildlife photographer and Mass Audubon instructor Shawn Carey of Migration Productions for this Adobe Lightroom workshop. Learn how to manage your digital photo/files in a way that makes sense and is easy to learn–plus many shortcuts.

  • Importing files, rating and editing or culling images
  • Proper backup of files and catalog

  • Keywords and Keyword list: the proper way to apply Keywords

Shawn Carey and Michael Milicia will lead this one-day seminar crammed with tips and techniques that will help bring your avian imagery to the next level.

Topics will include fieldcraft, composition, exposure, autofocus, histograms, minimizing noise, camera setup, flight photography, and a brief primer on getting started with video. There will also be a discussion about bird photography hot spots in New England and beyond, as well as some tips for traveling with your gear.

The program will close with a general Q&A session. The content and presentation will be suitable for beginners as well as more experienced bird photographers.

Please note: This event is lecture-based and will go very deep into discussion about how and where to best photograph. However, there will be no photographing. To conserve on space, please keep any gear that you are bringing to a minimum. We would recommend only a camera, a notepad and pen. There is no need to bring a tripod or any extensive lenses.

Photographing birds and other wildlife has become increasingly popular over the last ten years with vast improvements in digital technology. One of which is the ability of a DSLR to record video and audio. Shawn will lead a discussion on how to record quality video and audio with your DSLR. Topics will include: what makes a good video clip, equipment needed, what to avoid in the field, tricks of the trade and how to manage your files in Lightroom. Examples in this program are of wildlife, however, the technology is applicable to other subject.
